Working overseas is one of the best things about Microsoft these days... I see a lot of my friends heading to various Microsoft subs worldwide...

Trips to Yakima Wine Country last weekend.

Hike to Mason Lake near Bandera Mountain this weekend.

I have always been wary of the way Corporate Development at MSFT acquired companies.

 

* They always looked for a company which was second behind someone (i.e. not companies with a winner mentality - look at Placeware).

* In lots of cases, it was unclear what was being acquired (TellMe, Teleo, Sendit) and surprise surprise -- with absolutely nothing comes off these acquisitions

* Crazy premiums for no apparent reason (85% for aQuantive?, $600M for TellMe??)

* Employees doing the real work didnt have a clue why something was acquired and more importantly were not proud of it...

This guy is amazing!

My new-ish Dell XPS 400 with Intel Dual Core 2.80 GHz and 2GB RAM with 400GB disk is apparently not enough for Vista.

 

I had Skype, MSN Messenger, GTalk.exe running when I tried to play a DVD with this result... I'd love to be able to pay more for this OS soon.
